Combatants laugh as they travel on the bed of a pick-up truck, racing past a series of multiple lifeless forms and moving towards the setting Sudanese sun.

"Observe such work. Look at this ethnic cleansing," a combatant cheers.

The individual beams as he points the camera on himself and his associate militiamen, their Rapid Support Forces insignia clearly shown: "They shall all perish in this manner."

The combatants are celebrating a mass killing that relief organizations believe killed over 2,000 people in the Sudan's city of al-Fashir in recent weeks.

A Community Isolated from the Globe

After maintaining the city under encirclement for almost 24 months, from August the paramilitary force proceeded to consolidate its control and restrict the leftover civilian population.

Satellite images reveal that troops started to erect a massive sand wall - a built-up sand barrier - around the perimeter of el-Fasher, sealing off entry points and preventing aid.

During the encirclement escalated, 78 civilians were murdered in an RSF strike on a place of worship on 19 September, while the international organization stated dozens more were killed in aerial and heavy weapon bombardments on a makeshift community in October.

Explicit Footage Shows Unarmed Individuals Gunned Down

By sunrise on October 26th the RSF overwhelmed the remaining military positions and captured the primary base in the urban area, the command center of the 6th Infantry Division, as the military pulled back.

Among the most graphic footage to emerge and analysed showed the aftermath of a massacre at a campus structure on the western of the community, where numerous corpses were seen scattered over the floor.

An older person wearing a white tunic remained by himself amid the corpses. The individual turned to look as a militiaman equipped with a rifle proceeded descending the stairs in the direction of the victim. Raising his rifle, the shooter fired a solitary shot at the victim, who fell to the floor motionless.

"For what reason is this one even living," a militiaman shouted. "Execute him."

Space-based imagery captured on late October appeared to verify that shootings were additionally performed on the streets of al-Fashir, based on a report issued by the academic research center.

One witness who communicated stated they had witnessed "numerous of our family members being executed - these individuals were collected in one place and each one killed."

Paramilitary Commanders Seek to Carry Out Damage Control

In the days that came after the killings, paramilitary commander conceded that his fighters had perpetrated "atrocities" and stated the occurrences would be investigated.

Among those apprehended was after a investigation recording his murders. Carefully choreographed and produced video shared on the paramilitary's authorized messaging channel reveal the commander being escorted into a prison room at a prison on the edges of el-Fasher.

Simultaneously, the militia and connected social media channels began trying to alter the story.

Updates showing its fighters distributing assistance to residents were shared by some users, while the paramilitary's public relations unit released several recordings purporting to show the proper handling of government detainees.

Despite the social media effort being deployed by the paramilitary, their activities in el-Fasher have generated international condemnation.
